Don’t let me tell lies. And don’t make me too rich or too poor—give me only enough food for each day. If I have too much, I might deny that I need you, Lord. But if I am too poor, I might steal and bring shame to the name of my God. Proverbs 30:8–9 ERV:
These verses ask God for a steady, honest sufficiency, neither the temptation of riches nor the shame of want. This is a prayer for contentment and integrity: enough to live faithfully, not so much that we rely on wealth instead of God, and not so little that we are forced into compromise. When you feel restless about what you lack or tempted by what you could gain, return to this simple request: ask God for provision that preserves your heart and keeps your hands clean. Trust that God’s measure of “enough” shapes character more than any bank balance. Seek daily dependence on God, not the extremes that pull your faith off course.
Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, give me just enough, supply my needs and guard my heart from the lure of wealth and the desperation of want. Keep me honest, content, and faithful to you. Help me trust your provision and live with integrity. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Precious Name Lord Jesus Amen.
